I have Facebook. Do I still need a website?
Facebook helps people remember you. A website helps them find you. Why a small business needs both.

Many professionals tell us: “I have a Facebook page, why do I need a website?”. It is a fair question. Facebook is free, you already know how to use it, and people are there. But it does not do the same job.
Facebook is like a stall at a market
On Facebook, your post shows up for a few hours and then disappears under hundreds of others. Someone looking for you a week later will struggle to find your phone number, opening hours, or prices. And if Facebook changes its rules, there is nothing you can do about it.
Your website is your shop
Your website is yours. It has a fixed address, it is always open, and it shows exactly what a customer wants to see:
- what you do and which areas you cover
- your phone number, with a button that calls straight from a mobile
- opening hours and address, with a map
- photos of your work
- what your customers say about you
Google shows websites, not posts
When someone searches Google for “plumber in Larnaca” or “hair salon near me”, Google shows websites and maps. Facebook posts rarely appear there. Without a website, the customer who is looking for you finds your competitor instead.
Facebook helps people remember you. A website helps them find you.
You need both
Keep Facebook for photos, news, and offers. Put your website address on your profile so anyone who wants to know more goes there. That is how they work together.
Years ago, a website cost hundreds or thousands of euros and took weeks. Today you fill in a form and it is ready in minutes, for a small monthly fee. There is no good reason not to have one.
